Dr. Charles Korando, DDS

Dr. Charles Korando, DDS

Dr. Korando graduated from the Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in 1981. But his training didn’t stop there. In addition to every bit of required ongoing education to maintain his credentials and license, Dr. Korando has taken on some of the highest-level of training available from some of the best instructors in the world!

Dr. Korando has completed the prestigious one-year Global Institute for Dental Education’s Master Clinician program in implant dentistry. The rigorous program, led by world-renowned instructor Dr. Sascha Jovanovic, is highly selective of its applicants. Dr. Korando was accepted into the program in part due to his extensive preparation and ongoing post-doctorate education. The one-year program included many hours of in-class and in-clinic time in California.

The program certifies Dr. Korando in the highest level of restorative dentistry with a surgical component. The program assures patients that there are only a few experts in the country with this level of skill and certification. The course is also attended by oral surgeons. That means Dr. Korando can do bone grafting and rebuilding of a person’s jaw, implanting of replacement teeth, and has mastered the very difficult skill of restoring old or damaged implants. Dr. Korando one of a select few medical practitioners in the Pacific Northwest who is certified and qualified to do this work.

Dr. Korando’s additional education began in 1992 with the American Academy of Implant Dentistry’s three-year maxi course through Oregon Health Sciences University, a course similar in magnitude to a post-doctoral degree or residency in performing dental implants. In 2012 he earned the prestigious Associate Fellow designation from the American Academy of Implant Dentistry’s after presenting extensive casework and completing a significant number of surgeries that had a high degree of difficulty. The presentation was followed by a grueling multi-day competency exam which he passed with flying colors.

It was after serving in the Army during the Vietnam War that Dr. Korando decided to become a dentist. Following graduation from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in California he served three years in the Public Health Service in Havre, Montana. When his commitment there was completed, he and his wife Wendy started the search for a community in which to settle down, raise their family, and purchase a private dental practice. In 1985 they found that dental practice here in Florence.

In his spare time, Dr. Korando likes to carve wooden merry-go-round horses, and you can bet his subjects have the best teeth of any wooden horses anywhere.
